Rules Snapshot

This summary is backed by the official conference rules page linked below.

Two-team ties begin with head-to-head conference winning percentage, then move through common-opponent comparisons from the top of the standings downward.
If that still does not break a tie, the ACC explicitly uses run differential steps before a final coin flip.
Multi-team ties restart with the ACC's published reduction rules whenever the group shrinks.

Does this tool use manual standings entry?

No. It is designed to fetch official SEC and ACC standings and conference tiebreak context automatically, then cache the latest healthy snapshot.

Why can some ties remain unresolved?

Some official standings pages do not expose every game-level comparison needed to finish a live tiebreak. In those cases the tool keeps the tie visible and explains which official rule step still needs more source detail.

What counts as a top-4 bye here?

Both conferences place the top four seeds directly into the quarterfinal round, while seeds five through eight receive a single bye into the second round.
