How do you measure for a football helmet?

Wrap a soft tape measure around the largest part of the head, about one inch above the eyebrows and ears. Keep the tape level. That circumference maps to a helmet size, which you then fine-tune with the air bladders.

How should a football helmet fit?

The helmet should sit one to two finger-widths above the eyebrows, grip the crown with no gaps, and press the cheeks. It should not rock front-to-back or side-to-side once the air-fit pads are inflated.

What size football helmet for a youth player?

Most youth players fall in a Youth Medium (about 20.5" to 21.25" circumference). Always measure — youth head sizes vary widely at the same age.

Can you adjust a football helmet that is slightly loose?

Yes. Air-fit helmets have bladders you inflate with a pump to remove small gaps. If the helmet still lifts or rocks after inflating, it is the wrong shell size.
